All the major retailers now have a look book or wish list that you can add too and at Christmas they are a great way to spread the news to your friends and family what you would love at the festive period.

WHAT IS THE GREEDY BOOK?
Described as the home of the wish list, they’re an amazing discovery platform that provides you with your very own corner of the internet to collate your ultimate wish list, an eclectic mixture of your favourite things. The great thing about this as opposed to Pinterest is that it’s intended for things that you actually want rather than just simply think are pretty! There’s also a whole host of inspiration there if you’re stuck for ideas.
We know what it’s like to have to pull that polite “I love it smile” when inside you know the gift will never be used. The Greedy Book allows you and your loved ones to collate the things you love all year round so that when it comes to the time to buy a gift, everyone ends up with personal, thoughtful gifts and no disappointed smiles.
WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM?
The Greedy Book concept was developed by sisters Millie and Charlie, who were inspired by their sister-in-law who kept an actual ‘Greedy Book’, to note down each of her family members dream gifts and favourite trends to make it easier when it came to buying them presents. The ladies wanted to take The Greedy Book concept and expand it online, along with other exciting services, and useful tools, so that no family or group of friends ever has to struggle again when it comes to buying gifts for each other.

Id love to hear about all the pretty things that you would choose!

Poundland Santa Blogger challenge

Poundland Blogger Challenge.

When I was asked if I would like to take part in the Poundland blogger Challenge, I was really excited to see what goodies I could find, as I’m sure we all do, I love a good browse around our local Poundland as you can stumble across some really lovely items, not just toys and gifts but homewards as well.
So with £20 in my pocket, which in fact I honestly thought I’d struggle to spend, i braved the cold and headed to town, was like Christmas Day!!
I came back stocked to the brim with stocking fillers, craft items, chocolate, wrapping paper and the like!

I got the girls each a polly pocket doll for their stocking, they collect these and the little animals that go with them and they have so much fun with them, and because of their size you can take them anywhere!
The crayons where from making handmade candles at our community centre group, the outcome of that is not to be repeated!

I couldn’t resist some goodies to munch on, the bakewells where for my hubby, they where inhaled in less than a day and the Toffifee where a birthday present to myself!
I also bought 3 giant sacks for the girls christmas presents and a roll of matching wrapping paper, 2 bottles of bleach, some glitter and some printer paper.
I had so much fun taking part in this challenge and will defiantly not miss out on checking Poundland for some gifts when birthdays come back around.

Adam The Doddles Man and his trusty pooch Rover

Unknown

I’ve always been fascinated by drawing forms, they aren’t just an artists tool but are art all by themselves, Adam The Doodles Man and his very lovely dog Rover are no exception! I couldn’t wait to free them from their very modest packaging and if I’m honest, have a little play with them!
adam doodle man rover

They soon found their pride of place upon my fire place, they have already welcomed in two birthdays and the beginning of Christmas and never look out of place.
I will often catch the girls playing and chatting with them and we have a lesson planned in the new year for our community group on Famous Artists so these will be coming along for a drawing workshop with some very lovely children.

Adam the Doodles Man is the perfect companion to help you with your figure drawing. Made of stainless steel wire connected at the joints with aluminium rivets, his fully adjustable joints and limbs will hold any pose for as long as you need. He never rusts, never rests, never eats and never sleeps, so will always be on hand whenever you need him!

The Doodles range also includes Rover the Doodles Dog, together the pair make an ideal gift for any budding artist!

If men and dogs aren’t really your drawing thing then fear not, Homerama have robins and reindeers in their online store, who doesn’t want little moveable, metal animals dotted all over their house whether they are artists or not?!

After browsing the web I also found some snowmen, SNOWMEN!!!
These have to be the coolest gift for artists, lovers of finer things and general weirdos like myself!

I can’t wait to build a collection of my own, and i plan to create some gorgeous line drawn images for gifts next year, Thanks Adam The Doodle’s Man for inspiring me to create something new!

Reasons My Kid is Crying Competition and Review

If you haven’t heard of Greg Pembroke’s blog, Reason’s my Son is Crying you are missing out, it is seriously laugh a minute and as a parent you can relate with the images as you are probably witnessing one as you scroll through his blog page.
And now the good people at Boxtree have turned this internet phenomemom into a hardback book, so everyone can have a good old chortle into their tea on a rainy afternoon while the mini people are having a nap/terrorising the dog/planning an escape route/crying because its a Sunday!

Here’s a little more about it…

REASONS MY KID IS CRYING
Greg Pembroke Published by Boxtree on 10 Oct 2013;
£9.99 hardback
THE BOOK OF THE MOST POPULAR TUMBLR PAGE, REASONS MY SON IS CRYING.
It all started when busy father Greg Pembroke posted a few pictures online of his three- year-old son, mid-tantrum, alongside the reason his son was crying:
He had broken his bit of cheese in half.

Within a week the blog had featured on countless news, radio and television websites around the world, including The Daily Mail, Buzzfeed,
ABC News, Yahoo, MSN, The Huffington Post, USA Today, Good Morning America and The Today Show.
This book collects together photos sent to Greg from parents across the globe, documenting the many, completely logical reasons why small children cry. (‘I let him play on the grass’ . . . ‘We told him the pig says “oink”’ . . . ‘The neighbour’s dog isn’t outside’).
Together, they are both a fond portrait of the universal, baffling logic of toddlers – and a reminder for burned- out parents everywhere that they are not alone.

Greg Pembroke lives in Rochester, New York with his wife and two young sons. He divides his time between working as a radio advertising copywriter, and looking after his sons at home.

http://reasonsmysoniscrying.tumblr.com/

As a coffee table book it seriously is laugh a minute, all the images are large and bright and you cant help but chuckle along on each page for the weird reasons that toddlers suddenly have a melt down.

I suspect that many if not all of you will relate to at least one reason per page, i know i did! However don’t expect any details about the people who submitted the images or about Greg himself, apart from a few lines on the inner page, however i suspect that’s the whole point.
The book has clear ‘chapters’ under headings like ‘ Domestic Bliss’ and Sibling Rivalry’ to categorise the images into easily found areas if you just have to show you friend/mother/neighbour the funniest thing you ever did see!
All in all its a delightful book that’s a real eye opener to those that have long since forgotten what its like to share your home with a toddler or those who are yet to reach those delightful years.

Now you have the chance to WIN this book with our very own ‘Reason’s My Kid is Crying’ Comp!

Is Christmas stressing YOU out?

Now I’m usually a total last minute girl when it comes to Christmas and its as bad as it is good. The added stress and pressure of finding those special gifts at the very last minute but the early Jan sales can ease the money pressure. This year we opted for as much as possible, a handmade xmas this year and I’ve been finished for over 2 weeks now but with the big day looming i seem to have acquired a twitchy eye. Its yet to disrupt my sleep but the days and quickly falling away and I’m terrified of forgetting something! If you to are worrying about the big day, give this a read;

23rd December, Officially the Worst Night’s Sleep of the Year
  • Money worries & missing shopping deliveries keeping us awake
  • Week before Christmas described as “stressful & busy”
  • On the 23rd December we get the least sleep
According to research by Dreams Beds, the 23rd of December is the night we are most likely to lay awake in bed, worrying and missing out on sleep, in the run up to Christmas day.
With our wallets and purses tightly squeezed this year, it comes as no surprise to find money is the main cause for concern for 51% of us, closely followed by worries of presents not arriving on time. The younger generation have more money worries on their mind, with 54% saying their thoughts keep them awake, while the over 50’s sleep more soundly.
The survey, commissioned by Dreams Beds, asked 1000 people about their sleeping habits in the run up to Christmas. It found that 45% of us tend to stay up later; either partying the night away or wrapping presents. The rest of us tend to wake up early and, as a result, feel tired for the rest of the day.
When asked how to describe the week before Christmas, no festive cheer was to be found, with 89% stating they were busy and stressed. Only 7% find this week relaxing!
A divide between counties was also uncovered too, as those in the East Midlands will be rising earlier than all of us, on average between 5 and 7am on Christmas day. Those in the West Midlands are more likely to worry about gifts not arriving more than any other region. With many of us not making it to our beds until well past midnight, we’ll be getting much less than the recommended 8 hours’ sleep.
Nick Wood, from Dreams Beds, said, “The results show it’s not just eating a big meal that sends us to sleep on Christmas day.  It’s important to get as close to 8 hours sleep as you can, so try not to worry about things that are out of your control, late at night.
“We recommend preparing as much as possible, in advance and sharing responsibilities within families. Most importantly bedrooms should be kept present wrapping free; it should be a peaceful haven at the end of the day.”
Tips and advice on sleep and dreams can be found here http://sleeptalk.dreams.co.uk

I don’t know about you but the last time my bedroom was a peaceful place was before we had kids! I will however be giving the advice careful thought for christmas lunch!! •Runs off to pre prepare christmas lunch•

Pure Collection provides the ultimate in sophisticated New Year’s Eve partywear with a selection of feminine looks in classic red, black and grey.
A simple but utterly chic black dress will never look out of place at a cocktail party, so a Shift Dress, £83.85 is a flattering and versatile choice. In a wool-rich fabric with a slight sheen finish, this wardrobe staple is given a modern twist by sculptural pleats at the neckline. Pair with a Pashmina Shawl in Scarlet, £111.75, in 100% sustainable cashmere for a shot of festive colour and add unfussy, delicate diamond jewellery.
